Josephine DeLorenzo

Josephine "Jay" DeLorenzo, 76, of Clifton, NJ

Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.

Born on February 13, 1945, in Morristown, NJ, Josephine was the beloved daughter of Anthony and Angelina Agatino, and stepdaughter of Margaret Agatino (nee DeFillippis). She shared a special bond with her twin sister, Antoinette Agatino, with whom she shared a deep and loving connection throughout her life.

Josephine was a proud student at Clifton High School and also attended Vocational Comptometer School. She began her career as an IBM keypunch operator for Charles Pfizer Inc., later working as a data analyst for Coach Leatherware Company and as an office manager for PPI-Time Zero.

On September 2, 1967, she married the late Robert DeLorenzo, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Paterson. Together they raised a loving family in Garfield, NJ.

A dedicated mother, she is survived by her four children: Robert, Tony, Gina, Lisa, and her godson Patrick Bailey who named one of his children after her. She was a beloved grandmother to Samantha and Michael Curtis and cherished step-grandmother to Alan, Alicia and Joe.

Josephine was an active member of her community. She served as a PTA member and coached basketball for the J.D. Warriors at Washington School 4, where she proudly coached her two sons and future N.Y. Jet Wayne Chrebet. She was also the assistant coach of the girls' basketball team, Benanti Bashers.

Josephine's love, dedication, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her kind and generous heart, and the deep love she held for her family and friends, who were the center of her world.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Stroke Foundation.
