Josh McPheeters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 20, 2024.
William Houston Joshua McPheeters was born in Oak Ridge, TN, July 2, 1988. He tragically and unexpectedly passed on October 31, 2024 in Louisville, KY.

Josh was welcomed into Heaven by his best friend and best man, "Grandad" Erb Mowery, his grandmother "Nana" Frances Mowery, his father-in-law R. Bruce McCoy, and his uncle Robert Mowery. Josh is survived by his wife, Chelsey Morgan McPheeters, his sons Copeland Ray McPheeters (6) and Cade Houston McPheeters (2), his mother Donna Mowery McPheeters, his sister Morgan McPheeters and her significant other Jake Holt, his father William Daniel McPheeters along with a host of friends and family to mourn his passing.

Raised in Knoxville, TN, Josh graduated from Bearden High School, and later studied Culinary Arts and Science at Sullivan University. While in Knoxville, he met his wife and love of his life, Chelsey. They married on July 12, 2014 and spent 10 precious years as husband and wife. Together, they traveled, cheered on the Vols, ate good food, loved on their dogs, Luna Frances and Maya Fleur, and built a beautiful family and life together.

Josh was an accomplished musician and shared his talents by playing guitar in the Beargrass Christian Church Praise Team. He enjoyed feeding people, making music, reliving memories of his Grandad, and being a devoted and supportive husband. His friends describe Josh as welcoming, intelligent, loyal, and funny. However, Josh's greatest accomplishment and joy in life were his two sons, Copeland and Cade. Whether it came to soccer practices, swim lessons, Disney trips, or matching Christmas pajamas, Josh was an ever-present, loving father.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 23 at 2 pm at Beargrass Christian Church - 4100 Shelbyville Rd., Louisville, KY 40207.

Chelse, Josh was the best husband and father anyone would ever want for their daughter and grandchildren. I remember the first time you brought him home to meet me, the 2 of you sitting side by side on the sofa as we awkwardly searched for something to say, then watching the love between you 2 growing steadily over time. All those important landmarks the 2 of you shared - his proposal and the wedding that followed, moving to Memphis and back for school, graduation and on to Louisville, your first home, baby #1, second home, baby #2, and so many treasured and precious memories of your 10 amazing years together. I loved Josh and will forever be grateful for the love and care he unselfishly showed you.

Hi Chelsey, this is your uncle Greg. It has been a very long time... I wish Cheryl and I had the chance to meet your husband Josh. It sounds as if the two of you loved life and family for a decade together. Treasure the memories, share the stories, and every time a laugh or a tear appears when his name is mentioned, he will live on. To be re-membered literally means "to be put back together". We offer our condolences and our love.

I send my condolences to you and family. I pray for comfort during this time. Me and Josh used to work together at ORNLFCU main branch. He was funny and a blast to work with. He will be missed.

Josh was a wonderful person to work with! He always had a smile on his face. My favorite memory is when we had important events at work he would wear these special socks with his son´s face.
