Joshua Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 3 to Oct. 4, 2025.
Joshua Allen, the hip-hop stylist who won Season 4 of "So You Think You Can Dance" and became one of the show's most electrifying champions, died September 30, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 36. Local reporting and a medical-examiner report reviewed by national outlets said he was struck by a train and died at a nearby hospital.

Born March 13, 1989, in Fort Worth, Allen grew up dancing in church and community programs before bursting onto national television.

Allen's victory on the Fox series in 2008-capped by performances that blended musicality with athletic power-made him a fan favorite. His win over fellow standout Stephen "tWitch" Boss (1982–2022) propelled him into film and TV choreography and featured roles.

After the show, Allen appeared in dance-driven films and tours and returned to "So You Think You Can Dance" as an all-star. Coverage over the years has highlighted his work in projects including "Step Up 3D" and the 2011 remake of "Footloose."

News of his death drew tributes from dance fans who remembered the musicality, joyful presence, and grit that defined his performances on the national stage.
