Joshua Gyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2023.
Joshua Roger Gyer was born on December 13th, 2001 in Puyallup, Washington and was taken from us too soon on May 7th, 2023. He grew up in University Place and graduated from Curtis Senior High School in June 2020. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Payton McDaneld, on August 20th, 2022. Turning his love of the Puget Sound into a career, he worked at Narrows Marina for multiple years. If he was not found on the water, he was skateboarding, bowling, fishing, working on his car, or at Disneyland, but never too far from Payton. While he was talented in many areas -- his greatest gift was loving those around him. Josh's goofiness was infectious and he could always make everyone laugh. His quiet servant heart was felt by all, but especially those who looked up to him. We can only imagine the incredible husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend he would become if given more time. We know he is in Heaven with the Lord, boarding the streets of gold. He is survived by his wife, Payton Gyer; father, Norm (Lisa) Gyer; mother Donise Rogers; sisters, Hannah Gyer, Sierra (Jon) Felczak, and Hailey Marsh; and many other extended family and friends. His service will be held on Saturday May 20th, 2023 at Neighborhood Church, University Place, WA, at 11:00 am.

I met Josh in 5th grade. We grew up together and to watch him and Payton grow together was beautiful. When we all would hangout Josh was always smiling, laughing, or enjoying the breeze while he drove. Josh included everyone and made it a point to do so. He was caring to others and was much a representation of the 'golden rule'. It was obvious how much he loved Payton. The small things he would do for her, and the long glances at her when she wasn't looking showed pure love. He was a very special person. Miss you Josh, keep skating and take Jesus on a boat ride. I'll see you in heaven.

I grew up on almost the same street as Josh and the first time I met him was through a great friend. He was always so funny as well as respectful. The one thing I respected about him most was his ability to be himself making others feel comfortable to do the same. Thank you for a beautiful memory Josh and Rest In Peace.
