Joshua Snead Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2016.
Josh left this earth on November 5th 2016 surrounded by family, wrapped in the loving arms of his mother.

Josh graduated Choctaw High school in 2011 and continued his education for a small time at EOC Tech in Choctaw studying video game design. He was an avid sports fan, some of his favorites being the Oklahoma Sooners, Philadelphia Eagles and the OKC Thunder. He loved gaming, drawing, animals and the outdoors and was a good friend to many. He spent many nights watching UFC, loved watching Netflix, hanging out with family and teasing those around him. He absolutely adored his sister Maddie Hendricks and had an unbreakable bond with his cousin/brother Chris Henshaw. He battled hard with Muscular Dystrophy through the years, he had many painful surgeries and lot's of periods of recovery, but always faced them with a sweet smile and a gentle spirit. He touched so many with his strength and perseverance that somehow made our own battles not so unbearable. He will be greatly missed by so many but that fierce attitude and adorable smile will never be forgotten. Even in pain he taught us to love each other without judgment, to keep fighting when times get tough and to always love without expectations. In our sadness we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain, he is free to do, without limitations and has nothing weighing him down. May you do all you've ever dreamed of our sweet angel!

He is survived by his father David Snead of Choctaw and step mother Lori Jones, his mother Shannon (Murphy) Hendricks of Choctaw and step father Steve Hendricks, sister Maddie Hendricks, grandparents Jimmie and Vickie Cooper, cousin/ brother Chris Henshaw and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Joseph Snead of Choctaw, Maternal "Pa Pa" James Murphy of Midwest City, Maternal "Grandma" Sandra Murphy of Midwest City and uncle Michael Murphy.

Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.

Praying for your family during this difficult time and remembering a young man who was a bit ornery but without a mean bone in his body! May the Lord comfort you as only He can! Srta. Perkins, CJHS Spanish teacher.

Oh, my sweet Joshua....Our time together wasn't long enough, but then, would it ever be? I will never forget when my beautiful baby boy came into this world, such a peaceful gorgeous baby. From the moment our eyes met we were inseparable. I had never known that kind of love and though our lives weren't always perfect we always knew the unconditional love was there. I am so blessed for getting to be your mom. Growing up.... You tested me with your orneriness but relaxed me with your smile. I can't believe what a wonderful man you became. Those last days of your life, though they tested me greatly, I felt love beyond measure, an unworldly love, an indescribable connection that I will cherish forever. You were the epitome of strength, something of a Marvel comic hero that out shined any weakness that may have been questioned. May we all live our lives with the honesty, integrity, compassion and will that you did throughout yours. I don't know why I was chosen to be yours but son, I promise to never take your lessons for granted. You will never be forgotten, as I told you sitting next to your bed that night.... our hearts are one, we are one and I am with you. I love you so much and miss you already! Mom

I had the pleasure of knowing Josh and working with him on the bus for several years ! I remember when Maddie was small. She would watch for him to come home. She would run out to the bus and Josh would put on that smile ! You could tell they had a special bond ! Sometimes on Holidays we gave out treats. Josh would save some for Maddie. I have some fond memories of Josh ! I loved his smile ! He was a precious young man ! Shannon, Maddie, Steve and other family members, Ya'll were a blessing to him ! I know how much you loved him ! I will continue praying for all of you during this time. I hope you find comfort in knowing he is in heaven with no more pain. He is running, jumping and free ! You will see him again ! Love you all !

Shannon, that is a wonderful tribute to your son! I never had the privilege to meet him, but he sounds like a very fine young man who will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Remember, God promises to work all things for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
