Joshua Thalman Obituary
Josh passed away on October 26, 2012. He was survived by his brother Jacob Thalman; his father Joseph Thalman; his mother Cozette Dunlap; and an amazing array of extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and more) and loyal friends; all of whom will cherish and celebrate Josh's life for years to come.
Josh's life was cut way too short, but the time he did have here with us was quite full…full of adventures and travel and fabulous memories. Most of his adventures were part of a boarding sport - body boarding, snow boarding, skim boarding and skate boarding. Some of his other passions were photography, film making and a special kinship with animals. Josh also loved to travel both near and far. While he visited many places in this world, his favorites were Hawaii, New Zealand, Switzerland, the mountains in Utah, Lake Powell, Shasta, Glacier National Park and the more recent spot that he chose to make his primary residence- the beautiful Boulder, Colorado.
Josh was loved by so many and will be missed very much. He had a lot of close and special relationships as a result of his very loving and generous heart. He definitely had his personal struggles (as do we all) and we still don't exactly know what ultimately led to his moving on from this life. What we do know, unequivocally, is that he left a deep impression in all of our hearts as a kind, giving, and caring young man and his beautiful spirit will always be with each of us forever.

Josh was the love of my life, being with him for 4 years...we were able to experience so many fun things in life together!we traveled, snowboarded, skimboarded, and those were things he toaught me how to do. His family meant more than anything to him and i felt so fourtunate to be aprt of the Dunlap/Thalman Family for so long, thank you. The moments and the wonderful memories are all i have left now of my love joshy and i will greatly cherish those until the end. He wasnt only my boyfriend but he was my bestfriend. Knowing he is no longer here with us makes me feel empty inside. I miss him every single moment and cant stop thinking about what we once had. The joyfullness he brought to the our relationship was so needed. He had the biggest heart and i especially loved him for that. He made me feel like i was worth more than i really was... I learned so much from that man and they are things ill carry on with me forever and never forget them. I loved Joshua Thalman with all of my heart. He knew that when he passed and i know he loves me too. I miss you joshy...

I coached young Josh in soccer when he was about 9. He was a bright and shining star in the universe. He was smart, creative and yet a gentle soul. Our hearts are breaking young Josh - God speed. Love, The Jensen Family

My heart goes out to all of you. Josh had a special relationship with my dad, Chick. I remember playing tennis with Josh and spending Christmas parties with him. He was such a bright young man. Sending love and support your way, and a special hug for you Carol. I love you.

We are sad to hear that Josh has left us. We only met him a couple of times when the boys were in Utah to ski. He was a delightful young guy, happy and full of beans, ususally exhausted and eleated from a day on the mountain.
My old dad, Chick Thomas, really hit it off with Josh, and was the subject of a paper that Josh wrote about Chick's career flying airplanes. They were solid pals.
We send our thoughts and prayers and good wishes to Josh's family, we love you guys and wish you peace and hope and healing.

I always cherished the days when Josh would come visit his Grandma Carol in Utah. We would have a fabulous time together. I'll never forget going to Cowboy's Grub and riding on the merry go round that was much too small for us. I would laugh so hard when we were together. He's such an amazing person and I'll hold dear the times he came to Utah to visit.

As an uncle, I write this with a heavy heart, an uncertain loss of a sweet spirit. From my first moment with Josh in Corona del Mar when he was an infant, to waving goodbye to him last year on a late summer morning, never to see him again, the young man that taught me so much, and I too, shared so much with him, is a bittersweet image, indelibly pressed in my memory.
