Joy Engvall Obituary
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Rick Engvall (Jayne), Tim Engvall (Kim), Steve Engvall; grandchildren: Nicholas Engvall, Erik Engvall, Eve Engvall, Garrett Nelson (Sarah), Royce Nelson (Stephanie); brothers Glen Weller (Janice), John Weller, Mel Weller, and Dave Weller; sisters Janet Cross, Linda Taylor, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Gail Weller; and parents Grace Marie (Webber) Weller and Melvin Weller.
Joy lived her last 60 years in Citrus Heights, California. She was born on December 8, 1931, in Minden, Nebraska.
Joy and Charles were long-time supporters of the Sacramento Musical Theater Company and enjoyed attending the Broadway shows at the Music Circus and Convention Center Theater. Some of their favorites were Sound of Music, West Side Story, Oklahoma and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.
Joy loved to cook and entertain family and friends in her home. Her holiday parties are fondly remembered by friends and family. People so enjoyed her cooking that they encouraged her to create a cookbook which contained many recipes including her family favorite home-made applesauce cake.
Joy was a dedicated homemaker to her three sons and after they left the nest, she enjoyed selling Tupperware, and Sovereign House/Princess House dinnerware. As a result of her successful sales, she was able to travel to Spain, Florida, and Hawaii. In 1976 Joy and Charles enjoyed a cross country road trip to the Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.
Charles and his wife Joy were founding members of the City of Citrus Heights Neighborhood Association, where she wrote the newsletter "Creek Talk" filled with neighborhood news, events, and more. In 2012 they were awarded Outstanding Senior Volunteers for the City of Citrus Heights. The award was given by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors and Adult and Aging Commission.

Only good memories of Joy. We shared a niece and 3 nephews (her sis and my brother) so indeed I considered her family as well as a friend! We bonded over her later years while living in Citrus Heights. She introduced me to our first neighborhood association. We worked on several projects over the years. Knowing she and Chuck are forever together makes my heart feel better but I truly miss her and wish we had had more fun time together

Want to express my sadness to family and friends of the Engvalls. Joy and Chuck were a delight to know. I have lived in the same neighborhood as the Engvalls for 49 years. They were so neighborhood/community oriented and gave unselfishly of their time to community issues and efforts. Thank you for your service.
