Marian Joy Foutz, daughter of the late Homer and Vera Boyd, was born June 22, 1934 in Lake City, TN. She was married to the love of her life, Allan, for 62 years. After several military moves, Joy, Allan and their family moved to Beaufort in 1959.
She was a woman with a generous heart and love for family and friends who will be missed.
She was a retired supervisor with the DECA MCRD Commissary. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, reading, bowling and her pet dogs and birds. She was President of the Brenda Club Craft Guild for many years.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brother James Boyd, daughter Peggy Marie Foutz and son James Allan Foutz. Survived by her daughter Connie Hipp (Eddie). 6 grandchildren: Patrick Foutz (Naoko), Taaffe McGruder (Kenny), Suzanne Underwood (Steve), Brad Hipp (Heather), Eve Mills (Matthew) and Catherine Hipp, 9 great grandchildren, her sister Ann Stokes of West Virginia, many cousins, nephews and nieces. She loved her Beaufort family including her best friend Myrt Mickel, Julie Mickel Schott (Wilmot, Josh, Brooke, Rainey, Ava, Josh, Dorrell), her beloved Mary Elizabeth Greene (Jordan, Selene, Alex), Janelle Mickel Bell (Jeff, Brandon, Emily, Savannah, Adams, Jeffrey), Sherry Schott, Kathy Snell Caine, Carolyn Stanley, Carolyn Bessinger and many others.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 9:30-10:30am at Anderson Funeral Home, followed by funeral service in Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel at 10:30am. The family has suggested that everyone wear purple to Joy's service in her memory. Interment will follow at Beaufort National Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them for lunch at AMVETS afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice.

Connie and family, My heart goes out to you during this sad time. I have many sweet memories of your mom. As Ken and I looked up to the older cousins, Joy stands out with her laughter and beautiful brown eyes. Love you.
