Joy GIBSON Obituary
Mary Joy Gibson passed peacefully in the presence of adoring family on April 4, 2018. Mom was born on September 12, 1922 in South Vancouver, B.C. She spent her happy early years as the youngest of four children growing up on the family duck farm at 54th & Kerr. During WWII Mom worked at the Boeing Plant on Sea Island building aircraft for the war effort. She married her high school sweetheart, Eddie, in 1946 and they had four children. Mom always showed the most incredible love and pride in her family and we feel profound sadness at her passing. Mom loved spending time at the summer home her and Dad bought at Egmont in the 1960's, but above all, Mom loved spending time with her family including her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many children grew up calling her "Grandma Joy" and "Auntie Joy". Mom will be remembered for her boundless love, beautiful smile, the many cups of tea shared using her best china and a never ending supply of home baked chocolate chip cookies. Joy was predeceased by husband Edwin Leon ("Eddie"), infant daughter Lois Joy, brothers William Horace ("Billy"), Thomas Frederick ("Fred" in Australia) and sister Aileen Maude Elizabeth ("Betty"). Joy is survived by sons Wayne (Darlene) and Gary (Linda) and daughter Wendy (Tom); 5 grandchildren Ryan (Adria), Marcey, twins Leah and Erin, Jordan; 4 great- grandchildren Kaylea, Maya, Nate and Lexi; cousin Roy Tompkins and lifelong friend Peggy Lockwood. The Gibson family wishes to extend our warmest thanks to Dr. Jyothi Jayaraman and the amazing staff at the South Granville Park Lodge. Our special thanks to Sally and Ed and the countless extended family members and friends who have been so caring and supportive to Mom. A funeral service to honour Mom will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, 2196 East 44th Avenue, Vancouver, B. C. V5P 1N2 on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to BC Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, or to the charity of your choice.

How quickly a year passes and what a difference a year has made. I still cant believe Wayne has gone and I hope Auntie Joy and Uncle Eddie were there to meet him. I miss them all. I know my Mom would love to be able to say a few words but that is lost to her now so I will close with words from Auntie Peggy. Blessings to you all. xoxo

Dear Wendy, Tom, Wayne, Darlene, Gary and Linda,
I will always remember Auntie Joy with love. I am so glad her passing was peaceful and that her beloved children were with her when she travelled on. Much love to you all.

My sincerest condolences to Joy's family.
Joy & Eddie were always so gracious and warm, welcoming me into their lives. I always enjoyed our visits and seeing how proud they were of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy had such a quiet, gentle demenour, with strength and wisdom rounding out her loving nature. I will miss our visits, the sincerity of their hugs and continue to miss Eddie as well. I take comfort in believing Joy & Eddie are together again.

Myra and I feel very fortunate to have maintained a friendship with Joy for many years. Joy's passion for family and gentle nature was always a highlight of our visits.
I will never be able to think of one without the other.
