Joy (Goldfarb) Herman passed away at the age of 91 on Monday, March 18, 2024 in Tenafly, NJ where she was a resident for 57 years. Joy was born into a cantorial family in Staten Island, NY and was blessed to inherit their musicality. Joy was a leader in the Tenafly League of Women Voters, as well as an active community member on many committees in town and in the Tenafly schools, and was elected HSA President. Joy was civic minded and politically active, even insisting that her health aides in later years register to vote. Joy was an avid tennis player into her 70s and a passionate fan of the sport. A longtime member of Temple Emeth in Teaneck, NJ, Joy embraced her religion with all of its holidays and traditions. Family was most important to Joy and she was blessed with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Joy was one of the first people I met after I moved to Tenafly. I joined the league of Women Voters and the fist meeting was a few weeks after we moved in. We stayed friends over 50 years. I will miss her.
