Joy Lee (Munson) Peoples, 92, Williamsport, MD., passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at her daughter, Dixie Deering’s home.

She was born February 1, 1931, in Hancock, MD., to Theodore and Anna Mae (Jackson) Munson.

Joy was a loving wife to Oscar Peoples for sixty-three years. They had five children, Robin (Chip) Peoples, Vickie Shank, Dixie Deering, Sherry Peoples and Tonia Canfield. She was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and newly blessed as a great-great-grandmother. She was also an aunt to many nephews and nieces.

Joy dearly loved her family and friends and treated all others with kindness and compassion. No one was a stranger in her house. She was a dedicated homemaker and offered her cooking to all who came to visit. She enjoyed many hobbies which were self-taught, but her passion was crocheting blankets and watching the birds in her backyard.

Joy was a faithful member of the House of Jacob church located in Hancock and Hagerstown, MD.

She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; son, Chip; daughter, Vickie; grandson, Shane Bowman; great-grandson, Dakota Bowman; three brothers, Lawrence Munson, David Munson and Joseph Munson; and one sister, Doris (Munson) Davis.

Services will be held at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, MD. Viewing will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023, 11am-12pm. Memorial services will begin at 12pm. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. A reception will be held after interment at Bryon Memorial Park community building, 11 Park Rd., Williamsport, MD.
