Johanna. C.H. Maul-Trimbach 1910-2013

September 29, 2013

I write as a member of the Media Club of Ottawa. originally a branch of the the Canadian Women's Press Club, of which both the Ottawa Club and the Edmonton Club were branches. Joy was a member of the Edmonton Club. The Ottawa Club takes note of her passing.
Reading the obituary, I noticed a parallel between Joy and my mother in personal life events. Both were born in the same year, and died in the same year. Both lost their husbands early, Joyce in 1949, Johanna in 1961. Both emigrated to Canada Joyce came alone; Johanna came with her husband in 1951. Both lived in Alberta, Joyce in Edmonton and Johanna in Calgary. Joyce would have been interested in Johanna's story, published in Immigration News in 1957. "A Dutch Housewife integrates in Canada". Johanna died on July 18, 2013 at the age of 103. Johanna spent one year in England in 1928. Wish they would have known each other.

Dear Joy,
I've only just learnt of your passing. How blessed my family & I were to have known you. The Christmasses you spent with us were special.
You must have had many, many friends to welcome you - Bruce & Pat among them.
Remembering you with love,

I feel blessed to have known and loved such a remarkable lady who always took the time to listen and care about my family and me.

We miss Joy but know that the angels have united her with her many friends, family, and colleagues.
