Joy Werner Obituary
She was predeceased by her mother, Emojean Orr, stepfather, Dewey Orr and father, Johnny Humphries.
Joy graduated from Kingsbury High School and attended Memphis State University. She was a member of Delta Zeta and Sweetheart of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. As a young dedicated mother she volunteered with the Duration Club, an organization for children of special needs. Her compassion and support was a comfort to many. Joy will be missed for her beautiful smile, loving and kind heart. She carried herself with poise and grace while demonstrating strength and an amazing wit. Her love of laughter will live on for generations through her children and grandchildren.
Joy is survived by her son, Dr. Scott Werner, his wife, Mary Angela and their children, Mary Katherine and Sam of Memphis; and her daughter, Dr. Kelly Beck and her children, Natalie, Alaina Grace, and Nicholas of Franklin, TN. Joy recently became a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church in Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be Monday, December 18th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 South White Station Rd. Memphis, TN 38117. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joy's honor to Saint Jude Children's Hospital or Saint Louis Catholic Church.
"So with you now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your Joy." (John 16:22)

I worked at Carriage Court and I remember Joy for her beautiful smile and loving heart. We shared many stories and laughs. She was one of my favorite residents and I think of her often. Love you Joy. Praying for the family. God bless

My name is Shandrikka and I am a former employee at Carriage Court from 2007 to 2012. I was a server at the time and I remember joy and I clicking instantly she was truly one of my favorite residents and she loved her ice(lol). she truly was a sweetheart classy and Sassy lady and prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends are RIP Joy you will be missed!

Joy was one of my best friends in 8th grade. I also remember her Aunt Ola, who took us to school. God bless her family.
