BORTHWICK, (Marian) Joyce
July 13, 1917 - January 8, 2013
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother who passed away peacefully on January 8, 2013. She is predeceased by her husband, James, married 48 years and survived by her three children, Allan (wife, Lenki), Roy (wife, Eelen) and Barbara. Joyce was most proud of her children and loved all her grandchildren (Sherry (Clint), Jenny (Scott), Sarah (Gordon), Marella, Elissa and Jamie) and great-grandchildren (Holly, Darrian, Mckayla and Joshua). She was born in Vancouver, BC and spent most of her life there and in Richmond, BC. As a young couple Joyce and Jim spent many times dancing at the Commodore in Vancouver and later at Marine Drive Golf Club. Aside from dancing, her passions were golf and swimming. As a young girl Joyce spent summers on Bowen Island. The Borthwick family had a cottage on Keats Island so she and Jimmy built their own cottage in 1954 on Maple Beach at Eastbourne where she spent over fifty summers. Joyce was an avid BC Lions, Canucks and Blue Jays fan and taped all the games in case she missed something. Her ashes will be spread with her husband's at a later date. There will be no service at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
