Born in New Orleans in 1931 but lived in Marksville, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Beloved daughter of the late Ora Brouillette Mayeaux and Clifton J. Mayeaux, sister of Mary Mayeaux Thomas, former wife of the late Leo Joseph Chatelain, Jr., loving mother to Karen Chatelain Seghers (David Seghers) and the late Glenn Mark Chatelain (Sandra Ducote Chatelain) (previous spouse, Gail Comeaux Chaisson). Joyce graduated high school from McDonogh #35 and retired from Seiffert & Sons on Baronne Street in the 1980s. She was the cornerstone of her family in times of need and loved teaching them about the Lord and building up their faith. A special place was prepared for a child sent by God. A first home, a temporary dwelling for the body & spirit to grow, a child that was born of love & blessed by the hand of the Holy Spirit.

This child will be cradled in the arms of a loving family with promises of love contained within four simple walls. A Home limited by its design, measured in inches, but not in love & laughter.

Here the child's physical growth will be measured on the very walls that were touched by the child with drawings made in crayon, and through love etched in memory on our hearts as well.

It is a devout home where a family can unite around the dinner table, giving thanks with hearts & hands bound together as one, heads solemnly bowed in prayer, and their lives given to service.

During this short walk here on earth there will surely be glimpses of heaven. The stars offered as food for the soul, and a colorful rainbow a promise of a path home.

At the end of all my days, as I turn my eyes toward home, I shall be carried on silken wings as all the angels rejoice. I shall ascent toward heaven & will finally see my father's majestic home in all its glory.

In this home there are many rooms. An eternal dwelling place with no walls, no limits, no pain, just promises fulfilled. I shall behold the one who went before me & sat at my father's right hand. Then my heart shall whisperhome....home at last.

I am so sorry for your loss, Karen. I'm also sorry I won't be able to attend the services. By golly, you look like her in her younger days!
