Joyce and I became friends at Camp Kawagama in Dorset, Ontario. We were campers in the same cabin and then counsellors together. During those years I would come to Toronto and stay at her house for a weekend. We reconnected at the camp reunion about 10 years ago and have remained in contact since then. We last spoke in September. She was a very dear friend and who had time for everyone. My heart goes out to her family at this terrible time.

Anthony and Howard, my heart aches with sadness for you and your families. I worked with your father Steve at CMU, I assisted him with the LARC program and was blessed to meet and share meals with your mother and father. Both had a love and passion for their faith, family, and students. They could not have been more kind or gracious. Your mother had a knack for making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Barb and Jim

Joyce now you are with God and gone from the earthly cares. Thank you and the Jewish people for all of the contributions to mankind. Jonas Salk whose birthday would have been October 28 was a real life saver and humanitarian. Much that we know in the medical field comes straight out of the Mosaic Law. SHALOM

I am so sorry for your loss.

I attended the demonstration school in LRDC for kindergarten through 3rd grade, starting in 1983, and Falk School after that. LRDC (as we called it) was an amazing educational experience for me (I cannot imagine anything that would've suited me better) and although I have few very specific memories from that time, I do remember feeling so proud to be taking part in research that would help with the development of education and ultimately help other children. For her role in that, I will always thank Mrs. Fienberg.

I hope in some small way it helps to know that her efforts live on all over the world in the children who learned and benefited from her work.

The tragic loss of Joyce is heartbreaking. I hope you will find comfort in the words of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who promises that soon when God's Kingdom comes the whole earth will rest, free of disturbance. At that time the only cries will be cries of joy. (Isaiah 14:7) Please accept my sincere condolences.
