Joyce Gladwell

(1918-2011) After a short illness Joyce died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of September 17th. A Funeral Service was held on September 27th at the Haltemprice Crematorium and attended by close family and friends. Joyce worked for many years in her father's greengrocery shops in Cheshunt and Waltham Cross. Later she moved to Broxbourne, working as a book-keeper and becoming a stalwart and sometime Captain of the Bowls Club. Mother of three children she is survived by her daughter Linden, now living in the USA, and her son Richard, now living in Yorkshire. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Tom, and her son Robert who died of injuries received in the line of duty while with the Metropolitan Police. Joyce was a member of the WI and Mothers Union for many years. In her last few years she moved away from Hertfordshire to be with her family but her ashes will be returned to be interred with her husband in Bury Green Cemetery.
