Joyce Marie (Davis) Schreffler-Godbout passed into paradise on May 23, 2016 at 1:14PM from pneumonia. Born on September 12, 1933 in Hartford, TN to Walter Jackson and Delilah (Laws) Davis, she was the third eldest of 7 daughters. She was proud to be a Cherokee Native American from the Qualla Boundary, Great Smokey Mountains, TN, with her Native American name being Princess Qua-Lo-Ga. She was married to Harry G. Schreffler, Jr. and later to Ernest F. Godbout. Her various jobs were as an Undersecretary to J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI, an interior designer, an Activities Director for Sheldonville Nursing Home, all before she found her true life's passion in opening up and running the Blackstone Valley Regional Adult Day Health and Activity Center in Bellingham, MA which operated for 20 years serving the elderly and handicapped of the tri-valley area. In her spare time she was involved with the following boards and organizations: Bellingham Finance Committee, Bellingham Council on Aging, Blackstone Valley Writer's Guild, South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Wollomonpaug Indian Council, Alzheimer's Support Group, Cancer Society, St. Jude's Hospital, Framingham Union Hospital Board, First Baptist Church of Bellingham as well as it's Ladies Aide, Bellingham Business Association, Den Mother for the Boy Scouts as well as operating an Emergency Food Pantry which served 291 families per week. She always said, "Life is what you make it." She is survived by her husband, Ernest F. Godbout of Bellingham, her children Ronald, Steven, Harry III "Skip" and Kim; her grandchildren: Ryan, Joshua, Adam, Jacob, Collin, Justen, Grace and Matthew, her great grand-daughter, Bayleigh Rae, and her sisters, Beulah and her husband Gene Allen of Foley, Alabama and Lillian and Trond Manskow of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday June 16th, at 11AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Interment will follow. There are no calling hours. Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, donations in her memory may be sent to the Activities Fund at Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center 130 Chestnut St. Franklin, MA 02038. Arrangements are under the care of the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin. Guestbook www.oterifuneralhome.com
