Joyce Lamm Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 12, 2025.
Joyce Ardell Lamm, 97, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born on August 11, 1927, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, to Amos W Fisher & Anna Margaret (Rader) Fisher, Joyce lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to family, faith, and community.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, April Lamm Burwell and son-in-law, Michael J Burwell, of Dade City. There are 6 nieces, 5 nephews and their families living in Pennsylvania and many other States.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert K Lamm, in August 1996; brothers Wilmer and Carl W Fisher; nephew Terry Lee Fisher; and her beloved grand-furbabies: Hector, Wessie, Gabby & Boca.

A proud graduate of Reading High School's Class of 1945, Joyce married in 1951, and diligently worked several secretarial positions in Pennsylvania from the 1940's through the 1960's, before moving to Florida in 1969. Her 25 years as an attendance secretary at North Fort Myers High School were incredibly fulfilling. Throughout 3 decades, Joyce loved her annual summer vacations with her "Bobs" - they enjoyed outdoor adventures with many friends - in the American West, where they especially focused on Colorado. She retired from the Lee County School Board in 1995, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and kindness.

Faith was central to Joyce's life. In Pennsylvania, she was a member of Saint Mark's United Church of Christ, Reading and Epler's United Church of Christ, Leesport. After moving to Pasco County, Florida, she became part of the congregation at First Presbyterian Church in Dade City.

Joyce had a generous spirit and a tenacious nature that endeared her to many. A dedicated member of her 55+ San Antonio, FL community, she took great pleasure sending Sunshine Committee cheer to fellow residents. She called Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club home for over 26 years before transitioning to American House Senior Living in Zephyrhills. She found joy in making new friends and sharing meals with loved ones in all her many retirement years and those few months at American House. Her warmth and unwavering generosity touched many lives and her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks, gratitude, and respect to all the care-givers and staff at American House and Gulfside Hospice. There will be private family services and inurnment at Epler's Church Cemetery, in PA, at a later date.

I did not have the privilege of knowing her personally. Yet, she was always sending her love and joy through holiday cards in the mail. Her smile was always warm and up lifting. Sending love to the family.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you, and I can only imagine how difficult this must be. While I never had the chance to meet your mother, I know she must have been an amazing woman to have raised someone as kind, strong, and wonderful as you.
