Joyce McLeod Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2025.
Mooresville - Joyce R. McLeod, 83, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 14, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Joyce was the daughter of the late Leonard and Kathleen Shannon. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Judy Haskins.

Joyce's life was defined by creativity, compassion, and devotion to her family. After earning her business degree from Ursuline College, she pursued a successful career as a digital art designer before finding joy in her later years working at a quaint knitting shop in Davidson, where she shared her warmth and artistry with everyone she met. Her eye for beauty and gentle spirit inspired all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James McLeod, and their children, Mike (Laura) McLeod, Kelly (Dave) Sferrella, Shannon (Terri) McLeod, and Erin McLeod. Joyce was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Joyce's kindness, humor, and creativity will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A private family celebration of Joyce's life will be held at a later date.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Iredell County, especially nurses Peggy, Belinda, and Teresa for their compassionate and loving care

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Doctors Without Borders USA, Box 5023, Hagerstown MD 21741-5023, two causes close to her heart.
