Daughter of Louis Kief Jr. and Anna F. Nicholson. Wife of 47 years to Raymond A. Schankin (deceased). Mother of four children: Cheryl A. Schankin (deceased) of Whitefish, Montana, Mark R. Schankin of Michigan, Roy R. Schankin of Port Charlotte, Florida and Sandra J. (Tim) Reynolds of Howell, Michigan.
Grandmother of Graham J. Beardsley of California, Jennifer (Brea) Bachman of Oregon, Melannie J. Bachman of South Carolina, Spencer Jugan (deceased) of Montana, Kylie J. Jugan of Montana, Tiffany (Adam) Lawson of Michigan and Bailey A. (Parker) Reynolds-Wooden of Michigan. Great-grandmother of James Beardsley and Adam Beardsley of California and Ella Lawson of Michigan.
Sister to Shirley Koester (deceased), Louis Kief (Bill Walls), Linda Kotarba (Cas), Robert Kief (deceased). Joyce was a dear friend to many.
Joyce was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross and the Peace River Quilt Guild. She was a medical secretary for 30 years before moving to Florida. She loved sewing, quilting and painting, but most of all being a Grandma and Mother.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Church of the Cross, 2300 Luther Road, Port Charlotte, Florida.

What a beautiful service it was today for our beautiful friend Joyce. We certainly all felt the love today.
Joyce will be missed physically by many, but she certainly left a legacy of love and acceptance.
Her Granddaughter Melanie described her perfectly. I promised her that I would do my best to fill the holes in my life with Joyce´s essence.
Our only, and best comfort is the unimaginable joy she now feels as she is wrapped in the arms of her loving Savior.
Till we see her again in Glory.......

Joyce was a very beautiful, caring person. She was one of the first people to welcome me to LCC and invite me to join the prayer chain. She was so interesting to talk with and will be missed.
