Joyce Dean Allen Spencer, 80 of Columbus, MS went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation for Mrs. Spencer will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 at 10 AM at Grace Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Charlie Whitney officiating. Interment will be at Mount Vernon Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Spencer was born August 28, 1931 in West Blocton, AL to the late Melvin Plas and Emma Ruth Caldwell Allen. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 61 years having moved from West Blocton, AL. Mrs. Spencer was a caregiver and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Jackson Spencer, brother, Harry Allen and son-in-law, Wayne Allbritton. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her daughters, Emma Spencer (Richard) Stauss, Chesapeake, VA; Jean Ann Spencer, Starkville, MS; Donna Spencer Allbritton, Columbus, MS; Linda Spencer (Barry) Davis, Grenada, MS; sons, Jim (Resa) Spencer, Columbus, MS; Johnny Plas (Betty) Spencer, Grenada, MS; sisters, Shelby Thornton, Peggy Cook, Jackie Brown; brother, Donnie Allen, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kevin Spencer, Darren Allbritton, Matt Davis, Gavin Forrester, Shawn Forrester and Mitch Cargile. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of Trinity Retirement Place and members of Grace Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 708 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS 39702.
