SHELBY: Larry Nathan Waters was born November 10, 1955. Every day for the past 15 years he savagely fought Parkinson’s Disease, up until his final day on March 22, 2025.

He was born in Polk County to Doris Jackson Hooper, whom he was preceded in death by, along with his brother, Randall Dean Waters, and life long friend, Roger Parker.

Larry is survived by his soulmate, the love of his life, Renea Hart Waters, to whom he was a devoted husband of 49 loving years. Together, they faithfully lived through all their vows. His children: Chris, Tonya, & Tiffany, whom he was the best daddy to, always provided for, and considered his greatest accomplishment. His sons in law, Marty Pence & Curtis Grant, they shared mutual respect, admiration, and love for one another. Larry was vastly proud of both.

His 10 grandchildren, Jagger & Finley Waters; Tara (Devin) Jackson (Madison) Walker, & Avery Pence; Taj (Madison), Tyten, Cleo, & Tad Grant - who were the lights of his life. They all shared a special relationship and bond with their Pawpaw. He was their true inspiration and was profoundly proud of all of them. His siblings, Robert Vance Waters & Mary Delinda Anderson, who he loved immensely. Along with nephews, Jamie Grainger & Brandon Anderson.

Larry’s constant friend, Greg Maloney, they were blessed to have met and walked the same path for nearly 50 years.

His wife, Renea, his children, Chris (Iza) Tonya (Marty) Tiffany (Curtis) his grandchildren, his extended family & treasured friends - his family, who meant everything to him, are all left with poignant grief and will continue to carry his legacy.

Larry was truly the hardest working man who was a successful entrepreneur for more than 30 years, owner of Waters Tack Inc. and then employed by NorthStar Energy Services for 9 years, all while battling Parkinson’s Disease. In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending his time carving journey sticks for others, leaving his own memory on every stick that he so generously gave.

He was a gambler, who always took chances, a fighter who never gave up, never slowed down, never quit, was truly selfless, and always did right by everyone. Every chance he got, he would unselfishly share his memories & knowledge. Larry would constantly give all that he had & was undeniably admirable. He will be sadly missed by everyone who had the honor of getting to spend time with him.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at his home, down at the river, the place he deeply loved and found peace.
