Juanell Godwin Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2025.
Our much beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Juanell Godwin, earned her Angel Wings when she departed from Earth on September 1, 2025, to join her husband Mark, the love of her life and soulmate, in the Heavenly sphere.
Juanell spent the first 13 years of her life in Bean City, a small town outside of Belle Glade until she and her family moved to Indiantown, where she enjoyed barrel racing and riding her horse, Fire Ball, while excelling in academics. She remained well connected with her childhood friends throughout her life.
Juanell was crowned Miss Indiantown in 1962. In her youth, Juanell had the experience of learning new cultures as she traveled with her aunt and uncle to exotic places such as Hong Kong, Macau, and China. She also later traveled all over Europe and visited Mexico as well.
After graduating at the age of 17, Juanell went to the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale where she flourished. Then, life took Juanell on a different course from pursuing her interests in the Arts, and she became a concierge at the world-renowned Breakers Hotel.
Juanell's God-given talents finally led her to the Martin County Sheriff's Office where she worked tirelessly and will always be remembered by the impact she made by establishing the first HR Department, receiving numerous awards for her dedication and specialized work and running the department solely until her retirement in 2009.
In 1993, Juanell met and married her Prince Charming and soulmate. She and Mark had many mutual interests. Juanell enjoyed creating wonderful Southern meals. Together they hosted many dinners for family and friends and always opened their beautiful home at Christmas and other holidays to those in need. Juanell always made every celebration an unforgettable event.
After her retirement Juanell followed her passion as a consignment store owner and decorator. This well-rounded woman with all of her interests had a penchant for playing the slot machines where the casino never won! She was also an accomplished artist and absolutely loved the world of Mermaids.
Juanell was a devout Christian and is no doubt enjoying all the wonders of Heaven in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Juanell was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Wanda Prevatt, and her husband of 31 years, Mark Godwin as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She is survived by her sisters, Sharon Prevatt Roberts and Janice Perrier Waltersdorff, nieces and nephews, Donna Tate (Scott), Justin Roberts, Chelsea Tate, and Aedon Roberts, as well as many more beloved family and friends, and her little yorkie, Hershey.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m., at the Restoration Baptist Church (formerly known as Indiantown Baptist Church), located at 15451 SW 150th Street, Indiantown, FL 34956.
