JUANITA INEZ AYERS MOCKENHAUPT Passed away the morning of Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at her home in Camarillo. This beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend was born in the Fort Worth, Texas area to Jewel and Lyman Ayres on February 2, 1924. She attended Arlington Heights High School, where she was an artist of some distinction, graduating in 1942. She was a Red Cross Ambulance driver during WWII, working in the Forth Worth area. Juanita met her husband, Edward Mockenhaupt, on a blind date in November 1945. They were set up by one of his Army buddies. By December, they were engaged, and they married May 31, 2946, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Fort Worth, Texas. They returned to Edward's hometown of Los Angeles, California after the war and began raising their f amily in Burbank and then in Sepulveda. Juanita continued her artwork, working in oils and watercolors. Creating great works of art, which were cherished by family and friends. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles and trivia. An awesome and adventurous mother who spent many hours taking her children and grandchildren to the beach, museums and other points of interest. Fifty some odd years ago she began meeting with a group of girlfriends called "The Club", she treasured these monthly get togethers. Juanita is survived by her husband, Edward; as well as eleven children and nineteen grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. It was a life well lived, she will be missed.
