Juanita Neel

Juanita Charlotte (nee Kinder) Neel, 96, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born on May 24, 1921 in Millersville, Missouri, passed away on October 21, 2017 in Swansea, Illinois.

Juanita graduated from East Saint Louis high school in 1939 and shortly after married Virgil Neel. She was an active member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Cahokia, Illinois for over 50 years, along with being the president of the Kappa Deltas, the PTA, and the band parents. She loved to sew and was an excellent dressmaker and upholsterer. She also loved to travel and took the family on numerous cross country trips. She helped many people who are indebted to her for her strength and kindness. She will be truly missed by all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil Neel; her parents, Isham Monroe Kinder and Gertrude (nee Tallent) Kinder; her sister, Carmen Bastean; her brothers, John Henry Kinder, Clifford Kinder, Cletus Kinder, Gene Kinder, and Richard Kinder; and her son-in-law, Carl Hewelt.

Juanita is survived by her son, David (Janet) of Hagerstown, Maryland; her daughter, Carol Lynne Hewelt of Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, Christian (Lori) Hewelt, Carl (Anna) Hewelt, Paul (Alexis) Neel, and Michael (Tara) Neel; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Sabena Hewelt.

Service: Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Burial will be held at a date.
