Juanita Josephine Hoggett Swett "Winnie", age 71 of Nashville, TN, departed this life on October 14, 2013.
She was the beloved family matriarch, educator & Founder of Faith Unlimited Civic Club.
Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Lutisia Hoggett; brothers, Joseph, Herbert & Frank Hoggett; sisters, Beatrice Ward, Johnetta Brooks, Barbara Drake; son-in-law, Dr. N. Horace Mann III.
Survived by daughters, Rita Swett and Lethia Mann; grandchildren, Aleesa and Evan Mann; honorary granddaughter, Jessica Price; god-daughter, Lisa Pillow Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m., Friendship Baptist Church, 1109 32nd Ave. N., Rev. Jimmy Greer, Sr., Officiant. Interment following service at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Education and Youth Programs at Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs.Sweat taught me in 3rd grade. She was very stern with me and made sure I was always acting my best. She knew my family but didnt let that interfere with her teachings.I will remember her smile, the way she dressed(sharp) and the compassion she had for her students. She gave me a chance after some teachers did not and I will always remember that.
