Judge McGregor was wonderful to my family and me. When we lost our dog, Buddy, and both my husband and daughter were inconsolable, he came one Saturday morning, picked us up and took us to Animal Friends. We found our beagle, Barney, that day, and when Barney ran into a little bit of trouble with the law (he loves to escape), Judge McGregor came to our rescue. He was a wonderful man, and he will be greatly missed.

Judge McGregor was utterly devoid of pretense. I will miss him.
Here's my favorite story about him:
I was watching a nonjury trial in his courtroom. He had an old Achilles' tendon injury that had suddenly started acting up, and he was hopping back and forth between chambers and the bench.
During a recess, I said to defense counsel (Tim Sheerer) "Talk about a kangaroo court!"
When the trial resumed, the first thing Tim said was "I think the Court should know that it has been referred to as a 'kangaroo court.'" Then he turned around and looked straight at me.
It was taken in the spirit meant.

My deepest sympathy to the clan McGregor. I share your grief deeply. I loved and admired him as my fraternal "big brother" for over sixty years as we shared our love of sports, college, fraternity, politics and each other. We should all be extremely proud of having been blesed with such a good person. I sincerely regret that distance and family responsibilites prevent me from attending the funeral but I will always treasure his friendship as I remember him in my prayers. May he rest in peace.

I first knew Judge McGregor back in the early 1980s when I represented public defender clients in the Court of Common Pleas. It was always a relief to walk into his courtroom. Always he was fair. Always he did things right. He was a fine judge.
Eight decades is too short a time for such a man.

Dear McGregor Family and Friends,
What a dear man! He always had a welcoming smile, often a good story and he made everyone he met feel better for knowing him. He'll always be young, fun-loving and healthy in my memories. He was a great supporter and friend to Pete Flaherty!
