Judith Balansky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2024.
Judith Balansky (Kramer), 75, formerly of Dover, NH passed away in her home in Lancaster, SC on May 8, 2024. This loss was completely unexpected leaving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. She will be truly missed in so many ways.

After graduating with her Associates Degree, Judy dedicated 49 years of her life as a phlebotomist at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Her commitment to healthcare and her compassion touched countless lives. She brightened the halls of the hospital with her handmade seasonal and holiday pins bringing smiles to patients and staff. Although she retired and moved south, she found a new passion working with children in the local schools.

She embraced life's joys, from cherished traditions like the annual Boston 4th of July celebration, to the deep bonds she shared with her beloved family and friends. Judy's warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.

Judy adored her grandchildren, attending their activities and baking cookies together, creating cherished memories. Her unwavering love and support left a lasting impact on each of them.

Judy is reunited in peace with her parents, Abraham and Shirley Kramer. She is survived by her devoted husband, Don Balansky, her loving children Haley Blanchard and her husband, Harry, Evan Balansky and his wife Denise, her adoring grandchildren Matthew, Morgan, Madison, Lily and Sydney and her dear brother Jeffry Kramer and his wife Ethel. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

The family will be doing a private funeral service, however they invite you to join them in honoring her on May 17, 2024, between 4:00PM-8:00PM, in Edgewater Community, at 11234 Island View Lane, Lancaster, SC 29720. The family will also be planning a celebration of her life this summer, in the Boston area, details forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Judy's memory by contributing to the GoFundMe campaign established to support Don. Your donations will provide invaluable support during this difficult time for Don as he adjusts to life without Judy. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

Judy and I became part of a shared family when Evan and Denise married. She was a remarkable person, always vibrant and active. She lived her life with family and friends as a priority that brought her joy. I will always appreciate how she welcomed me into her home and family. She was a true friend that could never be replaced. I will cherish memories of time spent together including the many softball games that she loved to attend.

Vanessa and Bucky Elliott,
Don and family: We are so sad about Judy. She was a one of the kindest and big hearted person we knew. She trained me at WDH many, many years ago and gave me a career which I loved. I will never forget her and will always remember her as one of the greatest influencers in my life. We will see you all this summer. With much love and sadness,
Vanessa and Bucky

I remember Judy safety-pinning someone's colorguard costume that had just ripped in the band room at DHS--I am thinking it must have been before the Band Show in 1994? She got things done, and she had a joyous big laugh. I am so sorry for your loss, Haley, Don, and Evan.

Judy was one of the kindest most sincere people I have met. Her loss was such a shock, as her positive spirit was a presence at every community event. We met when she and Don moved to Edgewater in the spring of 2021. We shared common love of our New England sports teams. We shared holiday recipes, and always enjoyed a conversation. She passionately loved her family and friends, certainly she will be their guardian angel. Much love and support to Don and the family.

After retiring I came to Lancaster SC and reconnecting with Judy and meeting Don. I´m thankful for our times at the Y and sitting and having fun talks. We worked together at the hospital in NH also. It was a joy to see her. God bless the family at this time.
