Judith Reno Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2025.
Judith Pollock Reno, 81, of Wethersfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Hudson, New York, Judy was the cherished daughter of the late Leslie and Louise Lee Pollock. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1961, a milestone year when she was honored as Queen of the Snowball Court. With a keen mind and a caring spirit, Judy pursued a Medical Secretarial Degree at Albany Business College, graduating in 1963. She soon put her skills to use as a Medical Secretary in the Hematology Department at Albany Medical Center, where she worked for two years.

Judy's professional journey took her across Connecticut and New York, where she dedicated herself to nurturing others. As a Teacher's Assistant, she supported handicapped and intellectually challenged children with patience and kindness. Later, she found her true calling as a home daycare owner in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and Windsor and Wethersfield, Connecticut. For over 30 years, Judy welcomed countless children into her home-including all of her grandchildren-creating a warm, loving space that left a lasting mark on many lives.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 years, Robert F. Reno of Wethersfield, Connecticut; her daughter, Lori L. Reno of Rocky Hill, Connecticut; her son, Chris J. Reno and her daughter-in-law, Ildiko S. Reno, of Wethersfield, Connecticut. Judy's memory will also live on through her two sisters, Dr. Carol Seibert of Massachusetts, and Lisa Jordan of South Carolina; her brother-in-law, Terry Jordan; and sisters-in-law, Helen Pollock and Mary Lou Crimmins. She was a proud grandmother to five: Katie Connell, Matt Weisel, Justin Reno, Andrew Reno, and Priscilla Reno. Her two great-grandchildren, Aly and Jack Connell, brought her endless joy, as did her many nieces and nephews.

Judy was predeceased by her brother, David Pollock of Columbiaville, New York, and her son-in-law, Daniel Weisel of Torrington, Connecticut. Daniel was the father of Judy's grandchildren, Matt Weisel and Katie Connell.

A woman of varied passions, Judy adored movies and the lively beats of 50's and 60's rock and roll. She spent joyful summers at the family's lakefront property on Schroon Lake in New York's Adirondack Mountains, where she camped, boated, water-skied, and fished alongside her loved ones. Her talent as a seamstress shone through in the clothes she crafted, including her own Junior Prom gown, and in the gifts she made for family and friends. Known as the family's photographer and videographer, Judy had a knack for preserving life's precious moments. Above all, she treasured time with those she held dear, often opening her home for family parties and holiday celebrations.

Honoring Judy's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. They also extend their deep gratitude to Vitas Hospice for the compassionate, skilled care provided during Judy's final days.

Bob and family

Rich and I want to extend our deepest sympathies for ur profound loss.
We have wonderful memories of our friendship on Back Lane. Card games, costume parties and backyard get togethers. Judy was a warm, caring person and the best neighbor anyone could ask for. She will be sorely missed by all.

Dear Reno Family,

I am so sad to learn of Judy's passing. I am one of the many kids that had the pleasure of attending her home daycare and I have such fond memories of my time there. Judy treated us with such kindness and your home felt like a second home. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Dearest Reno Family, our hearts grieve with you the passing of sweet Judy. A second mother to Casey and sometimes Andy, and a dear friend to Ray and me, she was a huge part of our lives. We send our love and prayers to all of you, and find comfort in the fact that we shall some day be reunited in Heaven. Much love-Ray, Carol and Andy Fischer
