Judith Riste

JUDITH M. RISTE Judith M. Riste, age 60, of Colfax, WI passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. The former Judith Marie Hill was born October 28, 1946 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI to Thomas R. and Margie L. (Olson) Hill of Colfax, WI. She attended Colfax Elementary and High School. After graduating in 1965, she attended the Eau Claire Beauty School. As a licensed hairdresser, she worked at "Fay's Beauty Castle" in Eau Claire and the "Deluxe Beauty Shop" in Colfax. On August 19, 1967, Judy married Allen L. Riste, son of Dorothy and LeRoy Riste of Woodruff, WI at the Colfax United Methodist Church. The couple lived in LaCrosse and Chippewa Falls prior to returning to Colfax where they raised their three children, Thomas, Tammy and Timothy. Judy was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School Teacher and member of the Faith-Dorcas Circle. She was an active Girl Scout in her youth as well as a Brownie, Junior and Cadet Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Judy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the caretaker at Evergreen Apartments near her home. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She loved nature, sewing, music, gardening, animals and time spent with her family. She enjoyed going to thrift sales and was an avid collector of teddy bears and cobalt blue glass. Her three grandchildren, Breanna, Matthew and Ciara Rose were her greatest joy in life. Judy is survived by: Her husband of 39 ½ years, Allen L. Riste Son, Thomas (Melinda) Riste and their children, Breanna, Matthew and Ciara Rose of Colfax Daughter, Tammy (Steven) Riste Wahlin of Crystal, MN Son, Timothy Riste of Colfax Judy is also survived by two sisters; Susan Hill of Colfax Connie (Jon) Haugle of Colfax and nephew, Nathan (Tammy) Haugle of Madison Other survivors include Judy's aunts, Shirley Paff and Phyllis Peterson and uncle Clifford Peterson of Colfax and numerous first and second cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margie and Thomas Hill; her grandparents; in-laws; several aunts and uncles and two nieces, Laura and Nora Haugle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Colfax United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Thunstrom officiating. Burial will be in Hill Grove Cemetery.
