Judith Rooney

Judith (Judy) M. Rooney (MacDonald), 82, of Wallingford, beloved wife of Paul J. Rooney Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024, with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Malcolm and Alice (O'Melia) MacDonald, Judy was born on September 27, 1942, in Stoneham, MA.

Judy was a registered nurse for over 40 years at hospitals in Boston, New York City and around Connecticut, finishing her career as the night infirmary nurse at Choate Rosemary Hall.



Judy loved spending summer's camping with her husband and three children most often in Lake George, NY and Myrtle Beach, SC. She also enjoyed golfing locally with friends or when on vacation in Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, SC.

Her love for her family was quite possibly surpassed by her love for all things Boston Sports. Her beloved Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins will continue to be coached and/or cursed from above.

Along with her parents, Judith is predeceased by her brother Richard MacDonald and sister Sandra Nadeau. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of over 60 years, Paul, her son Michael (Lisa) Rooney of North Carolina, two daughters Robin (Richard) Jespersen and Renee (Sebastian) Bafumi of Connecticut, six grandchildren, Coltin Jespersen, Chase (Heidi) Jespersen, Raquel Rooney, Bryce Rooney, Isabella Bafumi and Samuel Bafumi and one great-grandchild, Charlotte Jespersen.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregiver, Lindsay Modeen, who with her son, Evin, will be watched over like family by their new guardian angel.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
