Judy Merritt Obituary

Remembering all our fond memories growing up playing on Spring Street in J'ville.

Dr. Merritt was an inspiration for me and my daughter. Truly she richly invested her time and efforts into mentoring the leaders of today and tomorrow ~ an investment which always pays great dividends. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Merrit family as you learn to live in her absence after being blessed with her presence through the years.

Judy Miles Merritt was a role model and inspiration to girls who grew up in Jacksonville AL. Her legacy lives on in so many lives she influenced along with her sweet father, Dr. Miles and her mama, 5th grade teacher to so many at Jacksonville Elementary. Peace be with you, Dr. Merritt.

Judy Miles was my counselor at Jefferson State in 1965 when the college opened. I remember her as being considerate and kind to everyone.

What fun times we had a Jeff State. Thanks for your encouragement and support. What an honor to say you were my friend.

We have lost a true servant leader. May her life inspire others to follow.

Dr. Merritt's contributions and accomplishments are many but will be remembered by most as a friend that encouraged all and I am among those numbers. We will certainly miss this gracious lady.

Dr. Merritt was a wonderful person and dedicated leader of Jefferson State. As a student in the early 1980's, she made me feel like I could accomplish great things. As a young adult, she treated me like I could make a difference in the Jefferson State community. She helped me find my first real job and was always supportive and kind. She put together a first class team in her office that stayed together for many, many years. Jefferson State and the entire community is much better because of her leadership and her having been part of the community.

Mrs. Merritt was a counselor in the admissions dept at Jeff State at the Centerpoint location when I was a student in the Fall of 1968. I remember her as always assisting students with a smile and made you feel special. She will be greatly missed in the education field. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Dr. Merritt was a fabulous role model for women of all ages and will be truly missed.

I am honored to have known Dr. Merritt through by beloved Libby Holmes and her family. I always looked forward to sharing a laugh and smile of encouragement with her.

Mrs. Merritt was a sharp individual and could converse on any level. A great lady.

Sorry to hear of the passing of such a kind lady. Dr. Merritt was Pres of Jeff State when I attended there. I worked in the financial aid depart., on the work-study program, for Dr McCain. I had an opportunity to meet & interact with her on several occassions. She was always very personable. What a wonderful role model for all women. She will be missed.
