JUDY SIGAL Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2015.
SIGAL JUDY ANN
Passed away peacefully after a heroic fight with cancer on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Born June 28, 1960, she was the youngest daughter of Norma and the late Erv Sigal; and the niece of Natalie Cuban. Mourning her loss are her siblings, Shellie, Michael and Randi; and her nieces and nephews, Jeff, Reid and Terri, Brian and Katie, and Molly. She will be dearly missed by multiple close friends and colleagues. A recurring theme in Judy's life was spending time with her family, as well as sharing special times with her closest friends and their children. Judy was a proud graduate of Penn State University and loved the Creamery. She received her Master's as a reading specialist at Duquesne University. Judy began her career at Sylvan Learning Centers. She taught throughout the years at Crescent, Murry, Horace Mann, Belmar, Phillip Murry, and finally Phillips. She had many close relationships and her students who knew how much she cared. Her love for her Nittany Lions was only surpassed by the Pittsburgh Steelers. A major highlight of her life was attending the Steelers' Super Bowl victory in Detroit. Judy spent much of her free time volunteering for multiple organizations. She was excited to be honored as "Volunteer of the Year for CCFA." Her sense of humor never waned. Her smiling face and good nature will be remembered by all. Services at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 - 11 a.m.). Interment Homewood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Sigal Family Research & Education Inflammatory, Bowel Disease Fund, Medical & Health Sciences Foundation, 3600 Forbes Avenue, Suite #8084, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 or Pittsburgh Mercy Health System for Dancing Classrooms, 101 Bradford Rd., Suite #320, Wexford, PA 15090.

It was an honor to have worked with Judy at Belmar Elementary School. Her quick wit and sense of humor always kept us laughing. I am blessed to have been able to call her a friend. She always spoke of her family with great pride. I am truly sorry for your lost.

To Judy's family,
I worked with Judy during her years at Belmar elementary. She was my number one tech student. During our good and sometimes trying times at Belmar we supported each other. I'm truly sorry for your lost. May the memories of the good times overshadow this time of sadnes.

Dear Norma, Shellie, Michael and Randi, the loss of Judy in your lives is enormous. I will never forget stories that my mother and father told of the Sigal clan and how much he loved you all. I think my Dad thought that Sonny was his child. The world is more quiet and less joyful without your sister in it and I'm sorry that I didn't get to know her. My Aunt Rose was a joyful spirit and to know that Judy's spirit will be welcomed by her beloved Nanny Rose, her father and Uncle Max should give you all comfort. Please know you're in my prayers and I'm so sorry for your loss.
Much Love,
Rozzie Sadowsky Silberschein

My sincere sympathies to Judy's family.
In the 1990s Judy and I worked together at Murray School during some very difficult years there. She kept me from going 100% crazy during the tough days with her great sense of humor.
When I think of Judy I will remember her saying, "As soon as I get tenure I will say NO." and the infamous encounter when she was told "There's no place for a newspaper in school." She made me laugh when most I needed it!
Rest in peace, Judy.

Judy is my sister. Like all siblings, we did not always see eye to eye, but Judy was amazing. She was all about helping people and being a good friend. Her smile lit up a room, and you could always count on her. She had more friends than most, and they all loved her. Will miss her terrible. The world is too quiet without Judy.

Judy, I have known you since I was a little girl. I have always loved you and your incredible personality and that smile that lights up everyone you talk to. You always made me laugh when I was down and was ill, and took care of me growing up when Michael and Ina never knew what to do with me. You will always be in my heart, and I'm just in shock your gone, the sweetest person I've ever known in my life,I'm so glad I was able to talk to you awhile back. Rest in peace. I'm sorry for your whole family, I send my condolences, I love you.
