Judy Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 6, 2023.
Judy Strausburg High Williams passed away on October 5th, 2023. Born in Scottsville, KY in 1939 she was the daughter of Jess and Corrine Strausburg. She is survived by her sons, Kevin High of Nashville, John (Leah) High of Birmingham, AL, stepson Don (Melissa) Williams of Easton, PA and sister Gail (David) Morris of Louisville, KY along with her grandchildren, Sam High, Henry High, Kathryne High and Adelaide Williams, nephews Paul Henkel and Adam Henkel along with numerous beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Carroll High (d.1973) and George Donald Williams (d.1993).

Judy graduated from Belmont University and sold real estate in Franklin/Williamson County until retirement. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loyal friend, and world traveler. She was a long time member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Nashville and the Ages and Stages Sunday School Class. She was deeply passionate about the arts, particularly Nashville Opera. She loved the Nashville Symphony, the Frist Art Museum and Cheekwood. She enjoyed her friends and neighbors of Regency Park, orchestrating family events and volunteering. Judy believed in family, faith, and community. Her life was built on optimism, resilience, and grace in the face of life's challenges.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Mohana Karlekar, Dr. Robert Miller, the staff and faculty of the Vanderbilt Adult Emergency Department and Vanderbilt LifeFlight.

Services will be private. The family will receive friends from 1-4pm on October 16th, 2023, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Nashville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Nashville Opera Guild or Alive Hospice of Nashville.

Judy Williams, in the face of serious health challenges, was a most positive, loving and giving person. She acknowledged her challenges but never complained. I always looked forward to being with her at opera events and will miss her smiling face and caring heart. Rest in peace sweet friend! Ann Marie McNAMARA

My first memory of Judy was playing the piano/organ at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Years later after Don Williams died we were both single and living in Franklin and enjoyed spending time together.
Judy was kind enough to house my Harley in her garage. I was returning the bike one day when she had guests and I was I introduced to Bill Batson and his daughter, Amy.
The last conversation Judy and I had was in late August for me to thank her again for that introduction which had recently lead to our 25th wedding anniversary.
Your precious friendship will always be held in my heart.
The High and Williams families are in Bill´s and my thoughts and prayers.

I meet Judy through the Nashville Opera Guild. What a wonderful lady, humorous, kind, and generous. It was an honor to formally induct her as a Lifetime Member of the Friends of Nashville Opera (formerly the Nashville Opera Guild) this past Spring. She will be with us always in our prayers and memories. With deepest condolences to all her family on behalf of Friends.
