Dr. Max & Eunice Palayew

It was with great sadness that I learned of Dr. Pare's death. I had the privilege of knowing him professionally during my tenure as chairman of radiology at McGill following Bob Fraser. He was a giant in the field of chest medicine & his contributions are immeasurable. I also, in the last few years, knew Dr. Pare on a more personal level as my sister-in-law is a resident at Wesmt. One. Each time I visited her for dinner I had a warm & meaningful chat with Dr. Pare. On our last visit in mid-Feb. he talked about his declining health in an accepting manner. As we left the dining room my wife blew him a kiss across the room & he smilingly blew a kiss back. That was our goodbye to a special man. It is how we will remember him. How fortunate you all are to have had him in your lives.

I am truly sorry to hear of Peter Pare's passing. I will always remember him as the quintessential academic who was also a tremendous human being. My year as his chief resident in pulmonary medicine at the Chest Hospital was made so memorable because of him.
He will be missed.

This is a time for reflection of a life well lived. While we are saddened we remember Peter's sense of generosity, joy, fun, merriment and silliness which we will carry with us.

Uncle Pete will be so missed by all of the Pare' clan. The obituary highlighted new aspects of his life for me because I only know him as an incredible uncle who could act, play tennis, keep a garden and deliver papers on his bike along with his warm and welcoming smile! Lots of Love to the whole family.

My Dad died as he lived – fall of gusto. He was entirely cognitively intact until almost the very last days. I refused to play scrabble with him because he would always win (at 95 years old)!

I had a complex relationship with him. He has been my major inspiration as a fellow physician, an over-committed professional, and as a fellow Christian. I believe he is a better place now.
