Born in Manchester on August 23, 1919, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Lamey) Velden. She graduated as valedictorian of Manchester High School West, class of 1936-B, and earned her degree from Hesser Business College in 1937.
Prior to retirement, she was a secretary for 24 years at Public Service of NH. She was a charter member and Director of the AARP West Manchester Chapter 3657, a former President of the Bedford Senior Citizens, and a former President of the South Main Street Seniors.
She was predeceased by her first husband Rowell Carpenter in 1952 and her second husband Emil Dreyer who died in 1975.
In March 2012, she moved to Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, FL, where she spent three years in the loving company of her son and his wife and many caring residents.
Family members include her son, Rev. Dr. Robert K. Carpenter, and his wife, Martha Gale, of Penney Farms, FL; and many cousins.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester. Committal prayers and burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 484 Donald St, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to "Penney Memorial Church" (memo: Building Fund), PO Box 354, Penney Farms, FL 32079.
