JULIA CAROLINA WILLIAMS MURRAY

Julia Carolina Williams Murray We, the family of the late Mrs. Julia Carolina Williams Murray invite members and friends to attend the Homegoing Service on Saturday, December 1st, 2012, at One O'Clock PM, in the Monumental Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Effingham, South Carolina as directed by Backus Funeral Home. Mrs. Murray, was the daughter of the late Mrs. Dora Williams of Florence County where she also received her formal education in the District One Schools. She was born December 2nd, 1930 and she passed away quietly on Monday, November 26th, 2012 after an illness. Her husband, Mr. Benjamin R. Murray preceded her and to that union eight children were born. Mrs. Murray was a Charter Member and one of the first members to join the Monumental Missionary Baptist Church while holding the title of Church Mother until her passing. She served faithfully before and as her health declined in the following capacities: Member of the Senior Usher Board, Pulpit and Pastors Aide also the Senior Missionary Society. Mrs. Murray was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star #295 and she was especially known for her Christian Duties in the Royal Gardens Apartments Family. She leaves a legacy of love to her eight child-ren: Julia Evans (Ronnie Ellerbe), Claretha McCall (Jack), Susie Murray, Debra Murray (Moses), Annette Williams, Dora Hughee (Herbert), Benjamin Murray (Lillian), all of Florence, SC and Ida Swinton (Timothy) of Timmonsville. Three grandchildren that was reared in the home as her own Vanessa Weldon (Tony) and Chauncey Murray (Marshelle) and Denotia Simon (Bobby). Four surrogate daughters, Deloris Nettles, Karen Legette, Cathy Steadman (Thomas) and Marchell McAllister (Quince). Three sisters, Elease Brown, Ethel Graham and Mary Stewart (Herbert), all of Baltimore, Md., One sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams. A special great granddaughter Riahanna Murray. Twenty-five grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and eleven eight great great children. Best Friends Clara Scott and Francine Bryant, in addition a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial is at her residence at Church Hill Apartments 904B, and the family will receive members and friends at the home of Ronnie Ellerbe and Julia Evans, 607 North Wilson Street, Florence. The Murray Family would also like to especially thank Dr. S Sitti and the staff of McLeod Hospice House for the care of Julia C. Murray. And to Jennifer of McLeod Hospital MICU. And a Special Thank You to our sisters, Susie Murray and Claretha McCall for being a special care taker of our mother.
