Julia Rogan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 2, 2017 to Jun. 2, 2018.
Rogan, Julia Swartwood

It is with great sadness that the family of Julie Rogan announces her passing on November 1, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Born February 20, 1937 in Odessa, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lamonte and Ethel Swartwood . She was the sister of the late Joyce Gofonia and June Skellett. Julie will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband, James of 62 years and her adoring children, Lou Ann Rogan Hook (Ed Hook), Frank Rogan and Tracy Rogan Pinney. Julie is also survived by her seven Grandchildren, Joseph & Maxwell Rogan, Kevin Smith, Kalyn Smith Kasun and Alex, Colter & Caitlin Pinney. Julie also had three Great Grandchildren, Avery Kasun, Harbor Smith, and Haven Smith.

To all who knew her, Julie was a vivacious and active soul. She truly cared about those around her and her children especially recall how she lovingly cared about all their friends and sometimes took them "under her wing" with advice interjected with plenty of wit and laughs! She was unique in the fact she truly didn't hold back, with Julie you could always count on her direct honesty! She was proud of the fact she "tells it like it is"!

She loved the challenge of starting a project and seeing it prosper through determination and hard work. For many years, Julie could always be found "keeping shop" at her store, Rogan's Corner which she built and opened with her family in 1983. A genuine Lady of the Lake, Julie's happiest days were spent along the shore of Cayuga Lake entertaining and enjoying her family at her lake cottage.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 16, 2018 at 3:00 pm, Sunset Grill 823 Danby Road Ithaca, NY. All who knew Julie are welcome. Any donations in Julie's memory would be graciously received by Hospicare or the memory unit at Shellpoint Village Ft. Myers.
