Julia Maxine Coley Swindle was born on October 13, 1947, in Lafayette, Tennessee to the late Clarence Estel Coley and Ruby Orvelle Cothron Coley. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Burrow, and infant brother. On Monday, September 12, 2016, at the age of sixty-eight, the Lord called Julia home. Julia is survived by; Husband, Dewey Swindle; Daughter, Stacy (Jim) Carter; Son, Tony (Angie) Swindle; Grandchildren; Rebecca (Wesley) White, Sarah Carter, Laura Carter, and Makenzie Swindle; Great-Grandson, Oliver Marcus White.
Julia was saved at home around the age of sixteen and was a loyal member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. We know from her testimony of salvation that she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior in that Heavenly Home. Although she will be greatly missed, we can carry on with the knowledge in our hearts that we'll see her again someday.
Julia and Dewey wed on February 26, 1965. They celebrated almost 52 years of wonderful marriage together and were hardly ever seen apart. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchild. Her family could always depend on her to be at school/sporting events and family get-togethers, as long as it wasn't too cold outside.
She was a long time employee of Citizens Bank and retired in 1998 after twenty-five years of service. When she retired from the bank she started working full time on the family farm. She spent most days working alongside Dewey. Julia enjoyed being outdoors. She really loved working and being at home on the farm. Anyone venturing out to Coleytown were likely to see her (with cigarette & Pepsi in hand) mowing, riding a tractor, landscaping, or working with cows/chickens alongside Dewey.
Although she was a "farm girl", she had a knack for interior decorating and landscaping and she left her mark on the homes of her children and grandchildren, along with the family farm. She was a true believer in church, family, hard-work, dedication, loyalty, and holding true to one's word. She was known as "Moma" and "Moma Julia" to her family and had to be spoken around carefully for if the phrases "How do you do this?" or "I need this done" were said, it was likely Julia would have it done the next day or within a few hours. She was a great asset to this family and there is now a void that can never be filled. She will live on in the many memories that were made and the little pieces of herself that she left along the way.
