Julia White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2010.
Julia Ann White, a resident of Cherry Valley for 42 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, on September 6, 2010, in Beaumont, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchild at her bedside. Julia was born on August 23, 1933, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to Henry and Jewel Lewis. While living in Sullivan, Indiana, she met George White while in high school. They fell in love and eloped on Christmas day 1950. Together, they were married for 49 years until the death of George White in October 2000. In November of 1961, Julia and her husband, George, purchased a one way train ticket from Decatur, Illinois to San Bernardino, CA. They stepped off the train with nothing more than their two children, two suit cases and $24.00 in their pocket. They lived in a small, one room apartment that had been converted from a small barn in Colton for several months. Later, they found a small two bedroom house. Julia found work in the aerospace industry working for TRW Systems in San Bernardino and worked there for ten years as a secretary. In 1967, the family moved to Cherry Valley, CA. In 1974, Julia went to work for the Law offices of David Burke in Beaumont. In 1978, Julia went to work as the executive administrative secretary for the City of Beaumont. She worked for the City of Beaumont until her retirement. Julia was an avid reader and always had a good book in hand. Julia was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Julia is survived by her brother, Bob Lewis of Ft. Worth, TX; Sons; Mitchell White and his wife Trish of Beaumont and Craig White and his wife, Kathie of Cherry Valley; Grandsons, Jeremy and Cameron White, both of Cherry Valley; Granddaughters; Candice White of Valencia and Brianna White of Cherry Valley; great granddaughter, Aryan White of Cherry Valley and step-grandchildren, Nicole Fox of Yucaipa and Matt Saindon of San Diego. Visitation for Julia is Thursday, September 8, 2010, from 6;00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont, CA. Graveside service is Friday, September 10, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Stewart Sunnyslope Cemetery, 40 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Beaumont, CA. Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA.
