Julian was a trusted friend to my husband and me. The good ones are taken too soon. Barbara Hartin.

Julian was a wonderful man. When my husband, Peter Hartin, was admitted to the hospital suffering from the same insidious brain condition, I was having a very difficult time and excused myself out to the hallway. When I looked up, Julian was there. He was the very first visitor. Just seeing him and getting that hug lightened my load and he also found a way to make Peter laugh when he later saw him. Julian and Fran were always great, church, couple friends. I am so sad for Fran and his family. He will be greatly missed.
Rest In Peace, dear man.

I always enjoyed my long talks with Julian whether at family events or when just passing though Virginia Beach for dinner. I am glad my boys got to know him a little bit and to enjoy his farm in Charlottesville. He was always ready to lend his advice and expertise to us when we needed it. I recall him standing up to represent the Bryant clan at a family reunion a couple of years agohe was the obvious choice and matchless in that capacity. In the best sense of the term, he was the embodiment of the true Virginia Gentleman, which I fear is a dwindling breed.

It is so hard to put into words what Julian meant to my family. He, like his father, was always there for you when needed. He had an easy, comfortable manner which put everyone at ease.
During this time of loss take comfort in knowing that he was loved by all of his aunts, uncles and cousins and will be sincerely missed.
