My deepest condolences to the White family. I remember very few professors in the same cherished way as I remember Professor Julian T. White. He was kind and treated students with the utmost dignity. I am very thankful he represented LSU and that he will always be such a huge part of the university that will forever mean so much to me. My heart goes out to Professor White's family.

Wesley and my son were classmates at U High and my late husband was a friend and admirer of Dr. White at LSU. He was a real gentleman, and you all are a beautiful family. I send love and sympathy to you all.

Julian was the most ethical, self-possessed man I have ever known and has always been an inspiration to me. I was profoundly fortunate to be able to teach with him at LSU in the 1990s. He was always honest, often funny, kind beyond words while holding to clear and unassailable principles. The world has lost a great and decent human being.

Professor White was my 3rd year college professor at LSU, I posted his obit. on my facebook page and former classmates have expressed deep gratitude for his contribution to their lives by giving them encouragement, when most other professors only gave critism. Many believe he is the reason they stayed strong and got their degrees. I remember him as a truly class act. So glad he put up with us! I look forward to designing castles in the sky with him in heaven one day.

I was really saddened to hear about Julian passing away. Although I knew about his circumstances, it was still difficult because of all the respect I had for him. Julian was one of the finest people I ever knew. He was so easy to be around and enjoy his company. The way he handled his adversity can be a lesson and an example to us all. I didn't know his nickname was "Brother" but I called him that because he had so many facial features that looked like my brother with a very similar name. He knew why I called him that and he seemed pleased, always flashing that great smile. Please give my heartfelt symmpathy to Loretta, all the children and the rest of the family. It is comforting to know that Julian will have many tomorrows. Dr. Bob Westerman

My sincere condolences to the family of Julian Thaddeus White.
I am a former classmate and knew Julian from 3rd grade to our graduation from Peabody H.S. I did not have an opportunity to see Julian again but was saddened by the news of his death. I still have fond memories of him and our earlier school years at Peabody. Julian had a quiet and reserved personality, but he had a warm heart and kind spirit.
May you be comforted by his life and tender memories you shared.

Julian White was also my favorite professor at LSU. I used to drop by his office all the time just to visit; one time was the day after an incident at CCLA when he was the keynote speaker at an LAIA mtg. He asked me why I was there to see him. Puzzled, I told him it was because he was my favorite professor and he broke down. We talked for about an hour and he revealed to me what had happened.
Upon leaving him, I organized an appreciation party for him at our next class to show him how much we, his current students, loved him. I could see how much that meant to him. It comforts me now that he knew we all loved and respected him and that he meant so much to us. He knew he was loved.
We lost a great man, a great architect, a great teacher, a great mentor and a very fine member of society with Mr. White's passing. I adored him. My sincerest condolences go out to his family. I will forever remember Julian White and hold a very special place in my heart for him.

To the White family, Please accept my deepest sympathy. You will be in my prayers in this time of sorrow. Although Mr. White retired at the same time I started working at LSU School of Architecture I've heard many great stories about him and when he came to visit from time to time he always had a big smile on his face. He will be greatly missed. Once again, I have the family in my prayers.

My father and I arrived, from Connecticut, on the LSU campus on a very hot, humid August, 1972. Mr. White approached us and could see we were completely lost. He patiently pointed us in the right direction. Later, as an architecture student in his class, he maintained that same patience with the lost and the weary. He was an Architect's Architect and I will always cherish his memory. My prayers and thoughts for his family. God Bless.

Mr. White was my favorite professor during my time at LSU and continued to assist in my education as an architect by serving as my Mentor. He was an exceptional teacher, a wonderful collegue, and most importantly a kind-hearted gentleman. This world is a lesser place without him (and his smile) in it. My prayers go out to his family.

I attended LSU School of Architecture in the early 90's. Mr. White was by far my favorite studio professor and I know he was beloved and respected by many of my classmates as well. He was always knowledgeable, fair and kind. I know he will be greatly missed by the architecture community and especially by his former students.

I had the honor to be in Mr. White's first Architecture class. From the moment he introduced himself it was apparent he was an extraordinary person. Throughout the years since then I saw him occasionally on the LSU campus, and he always took the time to chat. He always had that great smile and warm demeanor. I am so sorry he is gone, and will forever have a hole in my heart.

Mrs White and family,I pray that God will strengthen and comfort each of you as only he can do. As I read the obituary
for Mr White I learned more of the great accomplishments of the gentle man who I have had the pleasure to know over the past ten years. Everyone at Dean Tower will miss him. He always had a moment to share a kind word with others. He was always postive, he would warn others to have checkups and be aware of the importance of early testing. Mr. White loved his Lord, his wife and his family but he also loved his fellowman. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I know Heaven is richer today for his being there and this earth has lost a man who has left a lasting impact on many people. God bless of the family.

Being a native of Alexandria and very active in the church community there, and also working in the funeral service industry I knew the White Family well. They were a people of fine character. His mother, Mrs. Julia White, always expressed how she loved to hear me play the organ. I had the privilege of being the organist for the funeral services of the Rev. W.A. White. I ran into Mr. Julian and his wife about a month ago in the College Dr Walmart and it was certainly a joy to see him. My prayers are certainly with the family.

I to was lucky enough to be in Julian's first studio class in 1971, and much to his credit, it was a year that changed the course of my life. Thirty years later he also taught my son. He was the best professor that I ever encountered, and I was fortunate to have been able to remain in contact with him over the last 40 years. As others have said, he was the most decent, kind, caring, honest and professional architect that I have ever known. Our firm greatly valued his collaboration on several projects in recent years. Thank you Julian, for all that you did for the scores of students that you taught and mentored all those years. You will be greatly missed....

I was in Julian's first class at LSU. He had just come from CRS in Houston and his first assignment was to pick a system out of Sweets and design a space with it. Boy was he disappointed when the general response was "sweet? sweets? like in the candy???". Anyway, I have only seen him sporadically over the years so I can't understand this empty feeling in my heart. Truly, one of the great educators is gone.

Mr. White (or "J. T." as some of us irreverent students called him)was an inspiration in every way - as a professor, as an architect, and as a person. Since graduating in 1977, I maintained sporadic contact through the years with J.T., and his countenance always lifted my spirits. I have been blessed through Mr. White, as have so many others, and I am thankful to have crossed his path. May God strengthen and bless his family.

Julian White (we called him JT) was a fine man and a great teacher. I was a student at LSU in the 70's and was lucky enough to have 2 years of design studio with him. He was talented, knowledgable, dedicated, fair, and truly one of the good ones. We were all lucky to know him..

In my five years of architecture school there is not a single person I came across who left a footprint on my heart like Mr. White did. I was blessed to have him for both materials and methods and studio, as well as serve as his teaching assistant. Mr. White was kind, caring, compassionate, always saw the best in his students and worked to bring out the best in everyone who crossed his path. He was, and will always be, the perfect example of the kind of person we should all strive to be. He left a great legacy, and a huge void in the hearts of all who knew him. My condolences to his family. Thank you for sharing Mr. White with us. We will all miss him.

Mr. White was kind, gentle, good humored, fair and very willing to share his knowledge. I loved his materials and methods class and I always regretted that I didn't get to have him as a studio professor. Everyone loved him. He is a soul that you want to keep on this earth. Professor White was an incredible man. I only had one class with him, but it was one of those classes I felt awful about missing because he packed so much information into the class and all of it was relevant, his assignments were both challenging and inspiring. He really wanted us to learn from the existing buildings. And more than anything, he was a joy to talk too. I loved our casual run-ins at LSU where he was genuinely nice and was never in too much of a rush to stop and chit chat for a brief minute or so. He was loved by all the students and he will be missed.

Mrs. White and family, having worked closely with Julian when he served on the Architect's Licensing Board, I can only say what a wonderful and loving gentleman. I was impressed with his knowledge about the practice of architecture, but more impressed meeting people after he went off the board who knew Julian, worked with him, or sat under his teaching who always spoke so highly of him as a friend and mentor. As you probably were aware, he kept up with our office and always sent chocolates at Christmas. We will truly never forget our friend.
