Julie Aguinaga Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 11, 2025.
Julie Ann Gilster of Fairview, Texas, passed away on May 12, 2025, at the age of 65.

Julie was born on September 17, 1959, in Pender, Nebraska, to parents Diane and Larry Gilster. She spent her childhood in both Nebraska and California, graduating from Escondido High School in 1978. As a student, she had a passion for creative writing and poetry.

On September 4, 1982, Julie married Joseph Jesse Aguinaga, and the couple had four children. They soon moved to Texas. Once her children were in school, Julie began working in the cafeteria for Allen ISD, a role she held for many years. Her warm and personable nature made her popular among both students and staff.

Julie loved cheering on the Dallas Mavericks and taking trips to the lake. She had a special place in her heart for animals, and they naturally gravitated toward her. Her dog, Nala, meant the world to her. Julie felt a sense of peace with every cardinal sighting because she believed it was the spirit of a loved one watching over her.

Above all, Julie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a sporting event or school activity. Julie cared for her grandchildren in their early years, offering her time and love so her children wouldn't have to seek outside childcare. She shared a particularly close bond with her sister, and they spoke to each other every night.

Julie will be remembered as a caring soul who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. At her core, Julie embodied kindness and humility. Her sense of humor and free-spirited personality made her a magnetic presence. She nurtured lifelong friendships and formed meaningful connections with many people who crossed her path. Julie's faith was a source of strength in her final weeks, providing her with comfort and clarity amid uncertainty.

Julie is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; her parents, Diane and Larry; and her nephew, Greg Castillo. She is survived by her four children: Larry and Robyn Aguinaga of Lewisville; Lisa and Mark Farley of Allen; Sara Aguinaga and Eric Lafitte of Princeton; and Anthony and Lynsie Aguinaga of Caddo Mills. Julie felt immense pride in her children and the people they grew into. Her five grandchildren-Charles, Ava, AJ, Beau, and Cannon-were the light of her life. Her siblings, Tammy Castillo and Rob Gilster, cherish their beloved sister and will carry Julie with them as they care for their own families. Julie also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Julie's loved ones will hold a private memorial in remembrance of her life.

To honor Julie's compassionate spirit, consider donating to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.

It´s so difficult to share about our Julie. Bittersweet. She deserves the words, but our hearts bleed.
Julie, who strongly resembled her Great grandma Anderson, loved all God´s creatures, spoke her mind, accepted everyone, valued fairness, fiercely loved her family, had such pride for her grandchildren, had a passion for black licorice and an occasional pina colada, made all our lives richer!
It eases the pain that she has been reunited with all those she had lost before her. We know she is happy, so although we grieve we need to remember her with a smile on our face.

My heart is broken to have just found out about Julies passing. I have so many great memories of her from our elementary years, thru high school and beyond. She and April took me under their wings when our family first moved to Escondido from Michigan. I will never forget her beautiful smile and her friendliness to all. I hope you are smiling in heaven being with your husband again. I will miss and remember you forever. Danny Sisler
