Julie Balacco Obituary
Julie Balacco, age 63, of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Her partner of nearly forty years, Melissa Rosenblum, was at her side, and her dear friends Susan and Wayne Barish were with her via FaceTime.
Born on January 27, 1962, Julie was known for her many talents and her remarkable strength in the face of long-term illness. She will be remembered for her creativity, sharp wit, resilience, kindness, sincere compassion, and the deep love she shared with those closest to her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mauro G. Balacco and her sister Anna.
In addition to her partner Melissa, Julie is survived by her mother Giacomina Balacco of Forked River, NJ; her brother Joseph Balacco of Whiting, NJ; her sister Maria and brother-in-law Paul Saccone of Randolph, NJ and her former sister-in-law, Julie Monopoli-Christiano of Bloomfield, NJ. Julie also leaves behind her beloved nephews Christopher, Mario and James, and her nieces Lauren. She will also be lovingly remembered by Melissa's family: her mother Julie Rosenblum, brother Steve Rosenblum, sister Gail Sawchuk and their families.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date, to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julie's memory to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital: https://givetoynhh.org/areas-to-support/closer-to-free-fund/.

Julie will forever be remembered as a beautiful, gentle and kind soul. She was blessed to share her life with a devoted and loving life partner, who no doubt extended her joy and years. May she live in the hearts of all those whom she touched, especially Melissa´s. Rest in sweet peace Julie <3.
