Julie was my summer-at-the-lake special friend way way back in JULY 1969, at Brookside Resort in Park Rapid, MN. We watched the landing of the first man on the moon together. She was an extraordinary, wonderful girl (15 at the time). Very sorry to hear -- so long after the fact -- of her untimely passing. Long belated condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely, Jim Carroll, then of Winona, MN, now Palm Beach, FL. [email protected]

To the Hoberg / Fasching familes:
Yesterday my mom, Anne Raub, told me she had read of Julie's passing but too late to attend services.
The Raub family were neighbors of the Hoberg family on Linden Lane in Grand Forks, and my folks remained friends with Justin and Donna for many years.
Jeff and Julie were one of my first babysitting jobs. I remember just how CUTE they were, and how they'd split and go different directions leaving me to wonder which way to go. It was great preparation for mothering two of my children (boys 2-years apart), as they did the same thing as youngsters.
Being the small world that it is, my eldest son's family attends Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
We all are all shocked and saddened by Julie's short time on earth, much like her mother's.
Condolences to the families:

Dear Don, Justin, Jake, and Julia,
Julie (or Jewels, as I liked to call her) had as many beautiful facets as the sparkling things she so enjoyed.
A beautiful, loving wife, and best friend to Don.
Loving, nurturing mom to Justin, Jake, and Julia (she was the fun mom who loved to play with her children).
As a sister-in-law she brought to our family, style, elegance and the love of family spirit, for the most cherished moments were when we could all be together laughing, playing and of course eating.
Julie showed me how to shop, we traveled, from Bachman's for Snow Village houses to Department 56 for our many treasures, and let us not forget our favorite garage sale, and Goodwill finds.
Julie had strength, courage, and grace. As I met her many friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers I heard them say "she was my dearest friend". This is the mark of a person who has lived her life well, leaving us with memories and hearts filled with her love for us all.
When I look into the night sky and see the brighest shining star I will remember Julie, "the Jewel".
Love Marlys

Uncle Don, Justin, Jake, and Julia, your mom had a smile and laugh that could brighten anyones day. She genuinely cared about people and their lives. When telling her stories, she always wanted every detail, your excitement became hers. Aunt Julie was a wonderful woman who's memory will live within all of our hearts. She was so proud of you all, and loved you very much.

TO THE HOBERG & FASCHING FAMILY, Our daughter, Debbie, started kindergarten with Julie and Jeff at Viking school in GF. We were neighbors for several years, and have many wonderful memories of the entire Hoberg family. We are shocked and saddened by Julie's passing. Although we never knew Julie as an adult, we will never forget her as a beautiful child. We pray that God gives you peace in this very difficult time.

Dear Fasching and Hoberg family members,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in Julie's death.
My sister Thierry and Julie were good friends in high school at Red River in Grand Forks. Now they are united again in heaven. Thierry was killed in a car accident in 2000.
I will always remember Julie's twinkle in her eyes and her enthusiasm for life.
May God comfort you all with His peace.

Julie was a beautiful person inside and out. Although she is missed deeply, she is happy at home and in all of our thoughts. I will always remember looking up to her and her gorgeous blond locks, wonderful photographs and love for everyone. Julie will always be more than just a next door neighbor. I love you.
