Julie Schwartz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2025.
Julie Schwartz, 58, of Buffalo Grove, beloved daughter of Paul and Linda Schwartz, passed away on January 14, 2025, just one day before the 10th anniversary of her father's passing. Julie faced her illness with remarkable courage for over three and a half years, but the end came more quickly than any of us had expected. In her final moments, she was surrounded by family and close friends, who held her hand, soothed her, and shared a few funny stories that brought a subtle smile to her face.

Julie dedicated more than 25 years to a progressive career at Discover Card, where she thrived as a Scrum Master. She was highly respected for her exceptional organizational and follow-up skills, but it was her warmth, humor, and unique ability to connect with all personality types that truly set her apart. These qualities helped her forge deep, lifelong friendships that she cherished dearly.

Known for her beautiful blue eyes, she enjoyed "noshing," apple picking, the beach, video poker, trip planning, shopping on Amazon, Pink, 80s music, and baking.

Julie is survived by her wonderful son, Devin Berzon, of whom she was endlessly proud; her loving mother, Linda Schwartz; her sister, Lisa Schwartz (Mark Safranski); her supportive ex-husband, Steve Berzon; and her aunt and uncle, Karen and Joel Caplan.

A celebration of Julie's life will be held in the coming months. Details regarding the date and time will be shared via text and social media. Please consider donating to the ACPMP (Appendix Cancer): https://acpmp.org/get-involved/donate/?campaign=554658

I have many fond memories of Julie, a very kind, thoughtful and jovial woman whose multi-tasking acumen and devotion to her son were unequaled. Our paths diverged and, although it has been many years since last I spoke with or encountered her, she remained a fond memory to/for me.

My deepest condolences to her beloved family and friends. May memories of this wonderful soul remain forever with you.

I didn´t know Julie all that long. But she always was willing to lend an ear or say a kind or encouraging word to me and others. I enjoyed meeting her and will always remember her beautiful eyes and smile that lit up the room. Julie, you left us too soon. May you always remain in our hearts. You will be missed. Be our angel above. Hugs and love . Debbie

Julie took me in (step daughter) when I was young and lost and needed a strong mother figure. While there were challenges, I know she made a lot of sacrifices for me and helped shape me into the person I am today. She truly was a bright light and will forever be missed.
