BEARD Julius Ernest Beard of Semmes, Alabama passed peacefully at the age of 92 on July 17, 2009. He was born on August 4, 1916 in Kokomo, Mississippi to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest E. Beard. He married Hazel Driver Beard. He attended Pearl River College in Poplarville, MS. He was a World War II veteran with 3 landings and four campaigns. Mr. Beard worked as an electrician for Scott Paper Company for 32 years before retiring. He's been a resident of Semmes, Alabama since 1957. Mr. Beard was a long time member of Semmes First Baptist Church. He was a member Semmes Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Widowed Persons group. Julius enjoyed woodworking and gardening and watching Braves baseball. Julius Beard is survived by his son, Delma Beard (Vickie) Roosevelt, Utah; Grandchildren: Valerie Bobo (Scott) Roosevelt, Utah; Kevin Beard (Christy) Semmes, Alabama; Tabitha Macziewski (Scott) Chandler, Arizona; Great-grandchildren: Brittanne Bobo, Lottie Mae Bobo, Jesse Harris-Beard, Sean Beard, Brady Beard, Julius Jackson Beard (Jack). He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Julius was preceded in death by his spouse, Hazel Driver Beard and all of his siblings: Alton Beard, Earl Beard, Louise Jernigan, and Gladys Grady. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 12pm. The visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from at 10am to 12pm. The burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The services will be conducted by Dr. Calvin of Semmes First Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements by Mobile MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 6040 Three Notch Rd. Mobile, AL.

Dear Delma, Vickie Jean and Family,
We just wanted to tell you how much we thought of your dad. We have know Mr. Beard for many years. He was a real gentleman, a World War II Hero. He will be missed by everyone in the Semmes Community.

Mr. Beard was a Christian and a faithful member of Semmes First Baptist Church.
