June Hooper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2024.
June Barbara (Meyn) Hooper, 76, of Edmonds, WA passed away December 1, 2023. Firstborn to Henry and Barbara (Ippolito) Meyn on September 3, 1947, June grew up in Frankfurt, KS moving to Yakima, WA when she was 15.

After completing a journalism degree from UW and Peace Corps training in Sierra Leone, she landed a job with the Yakima Herald Republic. There she met and married the love of her life, Al Hooper (preceding her in death in 2018).

Before long, June's kindhearted spirit led to a Masters in Nursing with a cross-cultural focus. Her storied career included work with underserved First Nation communities in BC, Seattle Indian Health Board nursing supervisor, and King County Public Health nurse (from 1990 until 2016 retirement).

Cherished by friends and family, June was at the heart of organizing rendezvous, travel adventures, and dining meetups. Her book and movie recommendations were unparalleled and her love of everything Apple contagious.

Survived by siblings - Danae, Larry (Vera), and Leslie; stepchildren - Patty (Robin), Lee (Ron), and John (Lynn); grandchildren - Nathan, Graham, Julian; and niece- Kami.
