To the Benedict family,

I had the honor of playing football with Justin for 2 years. On the field he was one of the hardest working kids I knew. He practiced like he played, and that was to be a champion. I can remember the 1999 playoff game against North Catholic, one of our players was injured and Justin got the call and played as a freshman like he was a veteran. Off the field Justin was all smiles and fun. He was a friend and a teammate, and always will be. JB will be missed, #78 you will always be remembered.

To the Benedict family:

Although I never knew Justin very well, it was obvious to see that he was one of the kindest young men I had ever met. He always had a smile on his face. One of the things that sticks out in my mind most about him is the fact that he was kind and loving toward Chris and respected him as his older brother even though he was twice his size. I know that might sound silly or insignificant, but it really showed me his maturity and his incredibly kind heart. If there is a Heaven there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Justin is there. My heart goes out to you in this terrible time, as you are one of the best families I have ever had the privilege of knowing. All I can offer is my sincerest condolences as have many others, yet another testament to what a wonderful young man Justin was and the extent of the tragedy that occurred on April 22.

I wasn't his closest friend, but we had our moments together. He was one hell of a kid and I am going to miss him a lot. My sincere condolences to the Benedict family.
